Our Chiropractors use a “whole person approach.” This means we look for the underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time), make appropriate interventions, and suggest lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. We also incorporate the latest technologies to assess and measure your ongoing progress.
Using this unique approach, Doctors Blau, Tulachka and Bauer accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health. Our goal is to help you achieve your optimal health and wellness without the use of drugs or surgery. We look forward to helping you and your family live life to the fullest.
Kevin Blau, D.C.
Dr. Blau has more than 20 years experience as a licensed chiropractor. He is an area native and Portage High School graduate who completed his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Thanks to his strong commitment to promoting the optimal health and well-being of his patients, he is also certified in nutrition, exercise, and occupational health and safety to help you on your path to wellness! Dr. Blau is a member of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association, Portage Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Portage Knights of Columbus.
At home, Kevin is a big family man – literally! He and his wife Julia live just outside of Portage and have nine children. Together they enjoy growing and storing much of their own food to fuel their healthy, active family life! The kids enjoy pushing their dad by competing alongside him in triathlons, but Kevin thinks some of the older kids might be getting a little too fast!
Jessica Tulachka, D.C.
Dr. Tulachka moved to Sauk City four years ago to pursue her chiropractic career in a small town community and joined the Blau Family Chiropractic and Integrated Wellness team in January of 2015. She grew up mainly in the suburbs of Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL while spending her preteen years in the small town of Darlington, WI. She has her undergraduate degree from UW La Crosse, with a major in Biomedical Science and a minor in Chemistry. Her Doctorate of Chiropractic was obtained at the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
While attending school Dr. Tulachka received the opportunity to partake in a humanitarian trip to India where she provided free chiropractic care. She is a member of both the American and Wisconsin Chiropractic Associations. When Dr. Jessica is not busy seeing patients, she enjoys co-ed softball, running, being active in the Optimist Club, participating in Community Theater, reading, traveling and enjoying the company of her family and friends.
Todd Bauer, D.C.
Dr. Todd Bauer grew up in Portage and graduated from Portage High School in 1995. He completed his under-graduate work at UW-Whitewater and graduated with a degree in Business and a minor in Chemistry. Upon graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in February of 2004 he began practice on the west side of Madison. After getting married to Molly in 2007, he moved back to Portage and opened his own clinic which he operated up until having the opportunity to join the great staff here at Blau Family Chiropractic and Integrated Wellness. Dr. Bauer has additional training in nutrition, soft tissue treatment and instrument adjusting techniques. He is excited to help spread the message of living a healthy lifestyle by eating well, moving well and thinking well. Dr. Bauer believes health is simple, but not always easy.
When not working, Dr. Bauer can be found chasing his two kids, looking for his golf ball at a local golf course, curling at the Portage Curling Club or fishing at the family cottage.

Meet Our Staff
Angie is our office manager. You’ll often find her at the front desk welcoming everyone as they arrive. She is also certified in our computerized spinal scanning, light therapy and x-rays, so you may see her tackling just about any anything. Since starting employment with Blau Family Chiropractic in 1996, Angie has enjoyed learning new things – in and out of the office – to stay on the cutting edge of chiropractic, insure our efficiency, and learn more about living a healthy lifestyle.
Angie lives in Baraboo with her boyfriend Jamie, dogs Miley and Ernie and cat, Mew. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, gardening, reading, and tromping the trails of nearby parks. She is a fitness inspiration to us as a medal winning triathlete! She’s a tough cookie training and competing, but all heart off the course.
Question: Having worked here for 20+ years, you must REALLY love it here; why?
Answer: I love seeing the miracles of chiropractic and how it improves patient’s lifestyles, not just their symptoms. It’s great to watch kids grow up over the years and see how they benefit from Chiropractic. And it feels good being a positive part of people’s lives as they get healthier!
Our Patient Advocate Melissa is a go-to gal, and she can be found helping out just about everywhere in our clinic. She is a certified chiropractic technician and has completed extra training to receive her chiropractic radiological technician certification. Melissa enjoys all aspects of her duties, but her face really lights up when you ask her about light therapy! A Portage resident for 12 years, Melissa lives in town with her husband and 4 children. Outside of work, she is a loyal volunteer at her church and select charities. Melissa also enjoys camping and spending time with family and friends.
Melissa’s interest in the chiropractic field began in 2007 when she “realized the amazing capability our bodies possess to heal and balance themselves. Chiropractic is one of the most useful tools we can utilize to achieve this level of optimal health. The ability to truly enhance our lives comes from within each of us.” Melissa has also won the WCA Chiropractic Technician of the Year award in 2013, in recognition of her extraordinary dedication to chiropractic patients.
Question: It’s clear you’re quite fond of chiropractic, but what makes you LOVE it HERE?
Answer: The doctors and staff here at Blau Family Chiropractic are here to guide you to optimal health and I’m proud to be a part of it!
Elsie brings 5 years of experience as a chiropractic assistant to the front desk at Blau Family Chiropractic & Integrated Wellness. An Iowa native, she recently relocated to Poynette where she shares a cabin with her husband, yellow lab and a pony who is boarded nearby. Elsie advocates for chiropractic care as a natural approach to better health. Interacting with patients every day and keeping everything organized makes her job enjoyable. On weekends you will find Elsie spending time outdoors, whether gardening, playing with her animals or going for a walk.
Question: Why do you LOVE it here?
Answer: I’ve experienced the benefits that chiropractic care provides and want to pass that onto Blau Family Chiropractic patients. Getting chiropractic care isn’t just to feel better, it’s to feel EVEN better.
Amanda grew up in Northern Wisconsin on her family’s farm. She attended UW-Eau Claire and graduated with a bachelors degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She recently moved to the Portage area with her boyfriend and they are loving all the fun things there are to do here. Some of the things they enjoy include: rollerblading, playing tennis and visiting with family as much as possible!
Question: Why do you LOVE it here?
I have never been adjusted before working here so my eyes have been opened since I had my initial exam and being adjusted for the first time. Why I have this new love for chiropractic is… I get to see how excited patients are to be here as soon as they walk in the door and then I get to see them after the adjustment; how excited they are to now take on their day.
I am really getting to experience personally and professionally how great chiropractic can be for a person’s overall health!
Jessica is currently a chiropractic student at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. She is spending her final trimester interning with us before she graduates in October. She grew up in Pardeeville and completed her undergraduate at UW-Stevens Point in Health Promotion & Wellness with a minor in Nutrition. While working for a health insurance company she was introduced to a Chiropractor, where she fell in love with the chiropractic philosophy and lifestyle. She enjoys learning as much as possible about the human body and its abilities to self-heal. Jessica has a passion for serving others and has been on four missions trips to third world countries. She wants to be chiropractor so she can help other people realize that if they give their body the opportunity, their nervous system could self-heal and self-regulate, allowing them to function better and live life to their fullest potential. When not helping others, Jessica practices what she preaches by staying active and cooking healthy meals. Her favorite activities are playing volleyball, kayaking, skiing or anything outside.
