The 200,000 Year Old Doctor
Week 7 – Try & Tri!
Last week was the Silver Lake Triathlon! This was my first triathlon as both a participant and spectator. The event was tons of fun and there seemed to be a common theme of trying your best despite obstacles.
For myself, I found out about the event just one short month prior and had no competitive experience swimming or biking. However I enjoy running regularly and decided to give the triathlon a try. I picked up my childhood bike from my parents house, borrowed Dr. Blau’s daughters swim goggles and signed up. Additionally Dr. Blau, who participates in the triathlon every year ran into obstacles of his own. 2 months prior to the event he was bite by a tick that left him hospitalized for a few days. Then on the day of the race his wetsuit ripped and goggles broke. The triathlon was truly inspiring seeing others in the community at all activity levels participating and having fun. It would have been easy to sit back and say maybe next year, but that would not be nearly as rewarding. The triathlon was a small reminder to me if you just decide to “tri” despite circumstance you will grow and come out a better person. As a soon to be Doctor I will never stop trying to help others. Patients often have utilized many different approach’s before they try regular chiropractic care. Yet, once they see the results they don’t regret their decision to try.
We welcomed “soon to be DC” Jessica D to our office on July 17, 2017 and she will be wrapping up her chiropractic education in October of this year. Jessica has been a great help and a friendly face in the office, and we enjoy having her here to learn with us. She will be documenting her stay with us and commenting on what she finds interesting along the way! Check back often for her updates.
