It is not getting older that leads to diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. It is making unhealthy choices along the way that eventually causes people to become ill. At Blau Family Chiropractic, our Portage chiropractors work with our Naturopath and Lifestyle Educator, Rachel, to provide FirstLine Therapy® (FLT) and wellness care to help patients achieve the health and wellness they want and deserve.
FirstLine Therapy® treats the cause, not just the symptoms of chronic conditions. Our lifestyle program provides nutritional counseling that teaches you how to eat the right foods for your body. We also address stress management and how to incorporate exercise or gentle movement therapy into your life. Lifestyle is the first line of defense to treat a range of conditions from the inside out. FirstLine Therapy® helps prevent and treat those suffering from a wide range of problems including: heart disease, stroke, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, PMS, menopause, prostate problems, stress and fatigue related disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome and conditions related to obesity.
The first step in our FLT program is a bioelectric impedance analysis. The BIA is a quick, non-invasive and painless procedure that determines a patient’s body composition, or the ratio of fat to lean muscle a patient has. The BIA also gives us important information about your caloric needs and your cellular health, providing insight into how well you are aging.
Based on your specific needs, we create a customized plan and counsel patients on nutrition and supplements that will help you improve your body composition. That means burning fat and building lean muscle. We find that some patients benefit from a detoxification program, and we can guide you in that process if need be. While many patients do experience significant weight loss during FLT, we work toward your specific goals to improve wellness, whether you want to lose weight, look trimmer or just have more energy!
Nutrition, exercise and stress management are three key aspects of the FLT Therapeutic Lifestyle. Our team will work with you to develop a healthy and safe exercise program. You will also learn how to create new healthier habits in your daily life.
Our clinic offers several ways to participate in FLT. Make an appointment with Dr. Rachel Seltzner to see if the program will be a good fit for you.
Whether you want to try FirstLine Therapy® to fight a current condition, prevent a chronic condition from occurring, age more gracefully or just to improve your overall health, call our office today to learn more about the program.
